Our minister, the Reverend
Gary Kowalski ( gary@uusociety.org
), is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist. He holds degrees from Harvard
College and Harvard Divinity School. A native of Oklahoma, he served churches
in Memphis, Tennessee and Seattle, Washington, before accepting the call
to lead us in 1989. Gary has written several books, including The Souls

Elaine@uusociety.org Reverend Elaine Bomford, Assistant Minister, comes to Vermont after more than a decade of ministry in rural Unitarian Universalist churches in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. A native of Oklahoma, she is a graduate of St. John's College in Santa Fe and Harvard Divinity School. Elaine studied music at the Hebrew Arts School in New York City; she has sung, conducted, recorded and taught music in many venues, including Ferry Beach UU Conference Center. Elaine has also worked with homeless people, birds and canines. Her daughter Johanna is currently in college in Maine. "I am deeply pleased and grateful to join in the life of this Society and look forward to the journey ahead!"

Christina has worked at the First UU Society in Burlington since 1998. Prior to working at the church, she was the Education/Volunteer Coordinator for Women Helping Battered Women where she provided volunteer management for over 100 volunteers and did school and community education about domestic violence. She has also worked as an Office Manager for the Essex Vermont Police Department and for Mitsubishi Motors America headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. Christina has volunteered as a hotline worker at Women Helping Battered Women, as the board Treasurer for SafeSpace and as the Board Co-Chair for RU12? Community Center. Christina lives in with her partner, Woody Fulton, in Burlington, Vermont
Kathleen Ingram
Martha Dallas (Martha@uusociety.org), has been our Director of Religious Education (DRE) since 2006. She was formerly the DRE at a mid-sized UU congregation in Massachusetts and has directed several UU summer camps. She has taught religious studies at the high school level, and most recently worked at Burlington’s Edmunds Elementary School directing after school enrichment programs. Martha holds a BA in Anthropology from Mount Holyoke College and a Master’s in Theology and Education from Union Theological Seminary in New York. She lives with her partner, Lucy Gluck, in Burlington.
