First UU Burlington --
An LGBTIQA Resource
Welcome
The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington is a thriving, involved and diverse congregation integrated with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersex, questioning, and allied (LGBTIQA) communities. The Society includes people of every age, economic status, education, enablement, gender, gender identity, marital status, race, religious belief, and sexual orientation who join in a caring community to explore life’s mysteries and spiritual dimensions.
About the Congregation
We are an official “Welcoming Congregation,” recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Association of North America as a congregation that is welcoming to LGBTIQA people in all areas of congregational life, including programs, by-laws, literature, social activities and in its weekly services.” In June, 1999, the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington voted unanimously to be a Welcoming Congregation.
Our Activities
The committee sponsors workshops, shows relevant films and documentaries, and supports the community and other Society events and groups. We seek to be a resource for the community at large for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning people and our allies. Events are listed in Out in the Mountains (both on their web page and in the monthly newspaper) as well as in the Society’s newsletters and Orders of Service and on this web page.
Interweave
The second Sunday of every month (October to June) there is an Interweave Potluck for LGBTIQ and allies at 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Meetinghouse. Interweave is an organization dedicated to the spiritual, political, and social well-being of people of all sexual identities and genders. Interweave is also a fun, social group which is open to all. Come join us— meet new  friends in a comfortable and welcoming place!
