After Sunday morning services coffee is served in the parlor and church school areas as a pleasant way to meet and visit with members and friends. All are encouraged to wear their name tags to help with introductions. Volunteers are needed to help as hosts and hostesses each Sunday, and newcomers are identifiable by the red coffee mugs they are asked to use.
Forums:
On some Sundays a Forum is held at which all members of the community are welcome. The Forum presents opportunities to discuss issues ranging from congregational affairs and personal growth to social and political concerns. The topic for discussion is announced in advance in the newsletter. Any person wishing to suggest a topic or to offer to present one may contact the Chair of the Programs and Adult Education Committee.
Library:
The Church School Library became the Julie Wilson Lepeschkin Memorial Library in 1984 when it opened with a rejuvenated and renewed collection of books for children. It now also includes books which support the Church School curriculum and teach our Unitarian Universalist heritage, as well as titles for both adult and children on issues which face young people in today's world.
Memorial Garden:
The Memorial Garden located on the church grounds west of the church makes it possible for members of the congregation to plan to have their ashes interred upon their death if they so desire and to make such request known to the appropriate persons. A member of the Property or Memorial Garden committees can be helpful, as can the minister.
Potluck Suppers:
Members and Friends get together at the meetinghouse every second Saturday of the month for a delicious potluck supper and stimulating conversation. In addition, neighborhood gatherings for dinner or coffee/dessert are held periodically throughout the greater Burlington area. Check the Newsletter or with the Church office for details.
Sermon Discussion:
After some services an opportunity is presented for discussion of the sermon or service subject. Everyone is welcome to participate.
