Using our Building
The First UU Society Meeting House is centrally located in downtown Burlington and offers several excellent rooms for events. Our building is accessible and is located near city parking and public transportation.
Weddings - Our Sanctuary seats up to 500 people and is the perfect setting for your Vermont Wedding. We can provide you with a ceremony coordinator to assist in making sure your time spent here is handled to perfection.
Wedding Information Sheet - This sheet will answer most of your questions about having your wedding here at the First UU Society. For more information, or to schedule a visit, please contact xina@uusociety.org.
Meetings - We offer several meeting spaces that seat anywhere from five to 50 people comfortably.
Concerts - Our Sanctuary is a much sought after venue for concerts of all kinds. Our space has hosted concerts by Social Band, Vermont Mozart Festival, Krishna Das, Counterpoint, Nightfires and many others.
Memorial Services - Our ministers are here to provide meaningful memorials for your family and loved ones.
Receptions - Our Parlors, a light filled room decorated with period furniture is the ideal setting for small receptions and private parties. Our Community Room is great for larger events and sit down meals.

Room Descriptions
| Sanctuary - The Sanctuary seats a maximum of 500 people, but can also be the perfect setting for smaller groups by limiting use to the first floor or only the inner pews. This room is equipped with a newly rebuilt organ, a baby grand piano and a sound system that can accommodate playing cd’s or ipods. The pulpit can be rolled away to leave a large open space in the front for wedding ceremonies or performers. | |
| Parlors - The Parlors is one large room that can accommodate up to 80 people standing or sitting in chairs. The room can accommodate about 25 people seated at tables. The room is on the first floor and located near the restrooms and near access to the outdoors. The room is decorated with period furniture and historic photographs. | |
| Susan B. Anthony Room - This room is a nice sized room with lots of large windows. It is carpeted and has several stuffed chairs at one end and a place for tables at the other end. There is a sink and counter that is perfect for coffee and food service. This room is on the second floor, but is accessible by elevator. It can hold up to 60 people seated in folding chairs or less if seated at tables. | |
| Sophia Fahs Community Room - This large room is located in our basement. It is accessible by elevator. This room can accommodate about 60 people seated at tables, and more standing or sitting in chairs. This room has a kitchen attached to it and several small classrooms attached that are great for break out sessions. | |
| James Reeb Room - This is a small comfy room that is furnished with three large sofas. It is great for small meetings that want to provide a casual comfy feel. It can accommodate about 10 people. | |
| Classroom Space - We have several small classrooms in this building. They seat anywhere from 5 to 15 people. Most of these rooms are accessible by elevator, two of the classrooms are located in a nearby building on the second floor and are not accessible. Most of these rooms are furnished with a table and chairs. | |
