UU Spiritual Theme Circles

UU Spiritual Theme Circles

Spiritual Theme Circles are geared toward deepening FUUSB members’ and friends’ spiritual exploration and experience. The small reflection Circles consist of up to 11 participants and a trained facilitator who meet for one two-hour monthly session over a five month period. Participants should be at least 16 or a high school junior. We hold two “Circle seasons” per year.

Themes explored coincide with each month’s FUUSB specific focus, for example: Embodiment, Story, or Possibility. “The Path” is the document provided to the entire congregation, via email or hard copy, with bountiful offerings related to that month’s theme; some say it is “a path back home.” Opportunities for in-depth application, experience, and enhanced understanding are offered through spiritual exercises, questions, poems, quotations, resources listings and links for books, articles, films, documentaries, videos, music, websites, podcasts, etc. “The Path” is the means for sharing and deep listening within the Circles, yet even folks who haven’t signed up for the groups can still utilize these resources if they so choose.

In the fall 2015, FUUSB joined “Soul Matters Sharing Circles,” a collaboration with over 70 UU congregations, to gain access to the program’s rich array of library materials for potential use for our own participants and congregation.
