Our Seven Principles and Six Sources

The Principles and Sources guide and inform us in our faith. Here they are, expressed in simplified language for younger children:

  1. Everyone is special
  2. Treat others fairly and kindly
  3. Help one another to grow spiritually
  4. Search for what is true and right in life
  5. Act and vote on your concerns
  6. Uphold peace and justice throughout the world
  7. Everything is connected to everything else.

 

Our faith is informed by many sources of wisdom:

  1. The spirit of life, which we feel inside, and which inspires us to do good in the world
  2. People who inspire us to live as they did, guided by courage, compassion, and love
  3. Inspiring beliefs and values from the world's religions
  4. Judiasm and Christianity, which teach us to love each other as God loves us
  5. The insights provided by science, and the human power of mindful reason
  6. Earth-based spiritual traditions, and lessons from nature to live harmoniously.
